The Hudson Terminal Center (HTC) Collaborative is comprised of STV AECOM, SOM, McMillen Jacobs (MMJ), Mueser Rutledge Consulting Engineers (MRCE), CBRE, CIBC, James Lima Planning + Development, and Duke Geological Laboratory. The team’s philosophy holds that reclaiming the city fabric to create iconic public places can have a transformative impact on quality of life.
Our proposed underground concept for the Port Authority Bus Terminal (PABT) provides the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) with an unprecedented opportunity to create a significant civic gesture that can serve to catalyze redevelopment of Midtown West.
The HTC Collaborative was strategically brought together to leverage team expertise to envision this innovative, distinctive approach for rebuilding the PABT in its current critical location along 8th Avenue; one that will revolutionize the way people think about the PABT.
The STV | AECOM team has a 40-year history of partnering on some of New York’s most complex transportation projects, including the WTC Transportation Hub and Vehicular Security Center. STV has enjoyed a longstanding relationship with PANYNJ on signature undertakings, including the Hub and AirTrain JFK. AECOM has worked on tunneling through rock in New York—an integral part of the to HTC Collaborative’s design approach—including the Second Avenue Subway project. MMJ, MRCE, and Duke will support the tunneling effort. SOM, renowned for its iconic urban designs and transportation architecture, including Moynihan Station Redevelopment, will facilitate street-level mixed-use development opportunities made possible by the underground approach. CBRE, CIBC, and James Lima will provide the financial analysis that is so critical to the mixed-use revitalization of Midtown West.
The result of this synergistic and passionate collaboration is our groundbreaking solution for an underground bus terminal that will create a new and dynamic PABT for the future, while also fostering economic development in Midtown West.
